The Twisted Wick is a small shop in Louisiana that makes hanging car diffusers and sells them at twistedwick.shop. This page explains what we collect when you visit or order, and what we do with it.

When you order

Payment is handled by PayPal. If you pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay, the payment still goes through PayPal, and Apple or Google also handle it under their own privacy policies. We never see or store your card or bank details. We receive what we need to fill your order: your name, shipping address, email address and what you bought. We use it to ship your order and to answer questions about it, and, unless you say no at checkout, to thank you on our thank-you wall (below). Nothing else.

Our thank-you wall

We love thanking the people who support our small shop. When you order, our website may show your first name, the state your order ships to, the scents you picked, how many and whether shipping was free, for example “Thank you, Ashley in Michigan! 3 scents found a new home: Vanilla, Leather, Harvest Moon.” We never show your last name, street, city, ZIP code, email address or what you paid. An order stays on the wall for up to 3 months. To stay off it, uncheck “Shout me out on our thank-you wall” at checkout, or ask us at any time and we will take your order off.

So that the Google Pay button can appear, the checkout page loads Google's payment script on browsers where Google Pay may be available (not on iPhone or iPad and not inside the Facebook or Instagram apps).

Our email list

If you join our list for the 10% welcome code, we keep your email address, the date you joined and your code. We use your address to send you the code and, from time to time, emails about new scents and deals. Every email tells you how to stop getting them, and you can ask us to remove your address at any time.

Back-in-stock emails

When a scent is out of stock you can ask us to email you when it is back. We keep your email address on that scent’s list, and nothing else. When the scent is back we send you one email about it and take you off that list. We do not use the address for anything else. Every such email has a link to stop any other back-in-stock emails from us.

Your cart

The scents you pick are saved in your own browser, so they are still there if you come back later. They are not sent to us until you check out.

Cookies and the Meta Pixel

We use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms, Inc. (the company behind Facebook and Instagram). It uses cookies and similar technology to record how you use this site, such as the pages and scents you look at, what you add to your cart and whether you buy. Meta may combine this with other information it has. We use it to see whether our ads work and to show our diffusers on Facebook and Instagram to people who are likely to enjoy them.

You can turn off ads based on your activity in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, opt out at optout.aboutads.info, or block cookies in your browser settings. The shop works the same either way.

Who else sees your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your name, email address and shipping address, together with what you ordered, in a private file on our server for 3 years, and then delete them automatically. We keep your email address on our list until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.

Your choices

You can ask what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To do that, or with any question about this page, message us on Instagram @twistedwick.shop or email contact@twistedwick.shop.

Children

This shop is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update it on this page and change the date at the top.
